This project features a private garden in Sofia. It blends the convenience of city life with the tranquility of nature, offering a cozy space to relax and connect with the environment. Designed with attention to detail, the ‘Evergreen Garden’ provides functional and aesthetic solutions that ensure privacy, peace, and year-round greenery.
Spatial Organization and Structural Solutions
The garden covers approximately 450 m² and is strategically designed for maximum privacy and visual impact. The natural terrain, with significant elevation changes, is terraced. Retaining walls along the northern boundary are elegantly hidden behind an evergreen laurel cherry hedge (Prunus laurocerasus). This green wall offers extra sound insulation and privacy.
On the main level, a Physocarpus (Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Diablo’) hedge is planted for added privacy. The dark red foliage contrasts beautifully with the rich green leaves of the laurel cherry. This combination adds depth and dynamism to the space, creating interesting color highlights throughout the seasons.
Landscaping and Organic Plant Compositions
The southern section of the garden is planted with a rich mix of shrubs, grasses, and perennials. Evergreen species such as holly (Ilex crenata), heather (Erica carnea), bergenia (Bergenia crassifolia), and juniper (Juniperus ‘Green Carpet’) provide a green landscape year-round.
Flowering plants bring a vibrant color palette of reds, pinks, yellows, and whites. The plants are arranged in organic, flowing clusters. This layout creates a visual distinction between different textures and color blocks.
