“Forest Paradise” is a garden project full of character, designed to evoke peace, privacy, and coziness. The focus of the design is on a diverse plant palette, mostly featuring foliage plants. These plants mimic the low forest tier, creating a calming and natural atmosphere.
Well-Defined Space Zones
The garden is carefully divided into two key areas: a front, a decorative section, and a back garden. The front area is framed with low, ball-shaped yews (Taxus baccata), grasses, and flowering plants. These elements guide visitors toward the house, while separating pedestrian paths from car access.
Despite its compact size, the back garden offers plenty of space. It includes a relaxation area, a dining space, and a zone for active leisure. These areas are nestled among striking shrubs and grasses. Clear zoning and a strong design vision make this possible, ensuring every area serves its purpose.
The Fireplace: A Centerpiece
The standout feature in the garden is the outdoor fireplace. Positioned in front of a dense hedge of Leyland cypress (Cupressuocyparis leylandii), the fireplace conceals a large fence. Comfortable seating surrounds the area, making it the perfect spot for relaxation.
The warmth from the fire, paired with evergreen shrubs and autumn grasses, extends the garden’s seasonal appeal. It’s especially inviting in September and October. The fireplace is in use, while yellow and red hues from perennial plants decorate the flowerbeds, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
Shade-Loving Decorative Plants
The relaxation zone is framed by tall, broadleaf trees on both sides. Plant compositions with ornamental grasses and shrubs add visual interest. Varieties like hosta (Hosta seboldiana), liriope (Liriope muscari), and sedge (Carex morowii) thrive in this shaded area.
These beautiful plants are part of the green beds surrounding the relaxation zone. They line the stone pathway, leading from the house to the back garden.
Outdoor Kitchen with All the Comforts
The northern part of the garden is dedicated to an outdoor kitchen. It includes a countertop, dining table, and chairs. This space is sheltered under a striking pergola, offering a perfect view of the fireplace and lush greenery.
